Fallout 3 Review

Fallout 3 Review

Ok, so here's my Fallout 3 review. Overall I really like this game and I've become pretty addicted to it, but I still think that there are some element that are missing to make this an epic. Here is my full Fallout 3 review:

The Good

Graphics

All I have to say is WOW... Even though I don't have a super gamer's comp ( and I had to upgrade my vid card just to play) the game's graphics really suck you in.

VATS and combat

I am so glad that they kept the VATS combat system of the older Fallouts. Honestly, without it, it wouldn't have really been Fallout. I just love how you can enter a room full of raiders, and just VATS headshot them one after the other. The animation sequences was really well done too.

Immersive

What can I say about this...it just sucks you in. The graphics, the quests, the exploring...

Karma

Nothing new here, but it a great way to make a game less linear. At this moment, my character is good because I always play a good character first. On my second run at it, I will definitely play an evil character.

PIPBoy

AHHH, the trusty PIPBoy 3000. Never leave the vault without it. It's great that it acts as a sort of flashlight too. If only I had figure that out sooner in the game...

Side Quests

I've heard some people complain about the fact that the main quest is so short, and I agree. That why there are so many side quests available to play. And depending on how you play the game, some are available and some are not.

Exploring

I've spent countless hours roaming the wasteland. Once I hit level 20, I got the explorer perk to get all the locations and I've discovered that there are still many minor locations that don't have a marker.

The Bad

Crashing

A lot of players are encountering crashes in the game, including myself. It's very annoying to know that the game will crash every couple of hours. I got into the habit of saving my game very often because of that.

Horrible maps

The PIPBoy maps are so confusing. I got lost countless times trying to figure my way around in buildings.

Dude, Where's my car?

I was very disappointed to learn that there where no transportation other than your feet. I would have figured that the wastelanders would have some form of vehicles. I mean, the enclave have helicopters, why can't I have a motorcycle. At least I found out how to run faster.

Trading System

Supply and demand is not a factor in the wasteland. How dumb. It doesn't matter who you trade with, the only thing that affects price is your barter skill and trader perk.

What to do with caps?

There really isn't much you can do with caps once you've pimped out your pad. I have every weapon I could want, 1000s of ammo for each, more stimpacks than I can count. So what do I do with the 10k+ caps that's left over? Donate it?

So that's my 2 cent on Fallout 3 review. If you have your own review, please post it in the comments.

Um... What? Fallout 1/2 didn't have VATS, they were turn based. If you have no idea what you're talking about, don't talk.

Since when did Fallout 1 and 2 had VATS? Have you even did some research into the previous games to begin with?

Hello, yes the idiot claiming that Fallout 1 and 2 had VATS. Would you kindly shut up.

Fallout 1 and 2 naturally didn't need a paused aiming system from within a real-time environment, but Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics DID have a character-skill-based body-part targeting system where you could used call shots aimed at body parts to cripple or kill your opponent faster.

So no, they didn't have "V.A.T.S", but the aiming system they did have, looked a lot like what V.A.T.S does look like.

Now lay off the man.
